June felt like a long meandering walk in a city I love. One of my favourite memories was leaving a restaurant one night, both of us choosing a direction to walk in, an unspoken agreement that said: yes, we’d like to walk some more, where to, doesn’t matter. Then, because it was already quite dark, unexpectedly seeing the sunset at the end of a road, walking down two streets, and seeing the sun again. The sky a blend of greys and purples and blues, salmon pink on the horizon.
And punctuating all that walking, many a wonderful meal. Each time I felt spoilt rotten by how delicious and beautiful the plates were. Food so healing and eating so restorative, especially when shared with those I love. So before I get into the online stuff, I had to start by sharing some blissful meals, food plates as art, an entirely inconclusive London food guide.

Now onto ideas and projects and art and lives and looks that gave me pure joy, made me feel something.
I can’t believe I had only just discovered this project with a perfect name: Affection Archives.
I think one reason that most of the cuties I’m drawn to tend to be older is, they often exude a true can’t-be-arsed vibe. Likewise, The Tune Girl, the 63-year-old who plays modular techno at festivals, brought the widest smile to my face.
extreme cashmere’s in person series—combining all the things I love: an anthropological video interview series about everyday people and creatives.
This artist says ambition is a trap. She also describes her path as a lucky path, and amid all the talk about following your curiosities and doing what feels fun, I thought: what more do you need than to find your lucky path and walk it.
Relatedly: what’s ambition?, my ongoing investigation into what I think about ambition these days.
Imagine this life at 100 years old.
Are you this sexy? Or are you gutted?
I don’t even drink martinis but I want this.
Jay Harper’s paintings—whose subject, texture, and proportions I love—remind me of the joy of simple things.
Ning’s typewriter art: “AI” “AI” “AI” repeatedly, forming the Chinese character 爱, “ai”, meaning love, where AI stands for “Artificial Intimacy”. Love!
Still waiting for the perfect Links Tote. Meantime: I’ll take this drawstring tote, and a scoop neck why not.
Four good black and white outfits; the kind I like best, chic without sacrificing comfort.
On one of our calls W said “do the do” and it’s become our thing since. Do the do! Three words that say so much of what we need to hear, a playful roll off the tongue.
Another day I was sharing—a tale as old as time—the feeling of having so much I want to do and constantly feeling like I’m racing against time. How what I actually need is to sit with the doing, and overcome the overwhelm and distractions.
“Do the do because of a desire to be, not a desire to not be,” he said then, to soothe me. Abundance, not scarcity; do it out of love, not fear.
Oh, to be. I’ll leave you with a fitting final photo: These two, basking in the sun, nothing in hand. Maybe this is the whole point!!!
